For
his
first solo album, Richard Wright took
Gilmour's advice and went to Superbear, wher he made his often overlooked,
if somewhat bland, record, accompanied by top session musicians Mel Collins
(Sax) Snowy White (Guitar), Larry Steele (Bass) and Reg Isadore (Drums).
The sleeve was by Hipgnosis. No singles were released from the album, and
Wright did not perform any concerts.
The lyrics to 'Pink's Song' (not 'Against
The Odds', as stated on the US CD credits) were written by Wright's then
wife, Juliette, who as Juliette Gale, was a singer with an early incarnation
of Pink Floyd, The Abdabs. Appearances are not what they seem, the song
is actually about their children's tutor, who happened to share his nickname
with the star of 'The Wall'.
