POW
R. TOC H.
Nick
Mason: How
'Pow R Toc H' started was just one geezer would go up to the microphone
and go, Ba-boom-chi-chi, Ba-boom-chi-chi, and everyone picked up on it and
put the other things in it and then the drums picked up and that was more
or less that... Comment:
This song was also known as 'The Pink Jungle' which was part of 'The
Man-The Journey' suite (1969). Comment:
Toc H refers to an
interdenominational Christian fellowship of men and woman that seek to promote
an understanding of the meaning and purpose of life through the community.
It was founded in 1915 and started in a soldiers club in Talbot
House (Toc H was the army signaler's designation of the initials TH)
at Poperingtie, Flanders. It was incorporated by royal charter in 1922.
Comment:
This song was recorded for the BBC in December 1967 and survived to become
known as 'The Pink Jungle'. There are some differences toward the end of
the mono mix.
