Plays The Animals
Reviews

Excellent crowd recording. POTW-2 contains 'the' guitar solo at the end. Pigs contains about 3 to 5 minutes jam-session at the end (very nice !!!)

A great recording of a great concert. The band seems to be having a lot of fun (something I assume was rare during the In The Flesh Tour). Roger and Dave laugh hilariously throughout the first verse of "Have A Cigar". The setlist is a winner, too, including "Eugene" as the final encore. Roger does seem to get a bit annoyed at the crowd when before "Us and Them" he tells the crowd, "This one's got a quiet beginning." Definitely pick up one of the RoIO's of this show!

Great show (the best I've heard). This one is edited a little better than the 'Oakland...' RoIO, but this have also resulted in that some of the speaking between songs have been cut out. There is also a little more tape hiss on this one than on the other. I consider it a to be a must have, to have one of the CD's from this show.

Up to this time, I thought that "In The Flesh" was the best recording from the 1977 tour. Well guess what, I think I might have been wrong. I just purchased "Plays The Animals", and like it much more than both "Oakland" and "In The Flesh". With the exception of some loud noises during "Wish You Were Here", the sound quality is exceptional, especially for an audience recording. This is the complete show from the May 9, 1977 Oakland show, which includes "Careful With That Axe, Eugene". A definite must have.
