ON
THE RUN
Concept:
Symbolizing the stresses of being constantly on the go, particulary in reference
to travel.
David Gilmour: We created a kind of sound collage to show movement and travel...it
was a very serious attempt to achieve a certain effect. We weren't lying
spaced out in the studio, chucking anything together for the sake of it.
Comment:

by Alan Parsons running back and forth in the tunnel in London from the
Science Museum, underneath Cromwell Road, to the tube station. Parsons remembers
coaching him with instructions such as "breathe harder". Comment:
Background dialogue: Female voice announcing flights departures at an airport
- from a comedy album recorded at Abbey Road Studios three years earlier.
1:53 - "Live for today, gone tomorrow..that's me..hahahahah" (Roger the
Hat) 2:51 - (Laughter) (Roger the Hat) Comment:
Working titles for this song were Travel and The Travel Sequence. Comment:
An Instrumental from 'Dark Side of The Moon'.
Possibly a throwback to the quadrophonic footsteps and banging doors
that embellished 'Cymbaline' live.
