LET THERE BE MORE LIGHT
FACTS/COMMENTS

Concept: The song is a science fiction inspired tale.

Comment: The lyrics "The living soul of Herewood The Wake" referred to an Anglo-Saxon rebel leader known as "the last Englishman" because of his last-stand fight against the Normans led by William the Conqueror. He took refuge on the Isle of Ely until the monks there tired of the long seige and showed the invaders a safe path through the fens to the Isle.

Comment: This song spends its first minute demonstrating the powers of stereophonic imagery. The idea of the band as science fiction fanatics "space rockers", indeed was to be a millstone round their collective neck for some time, causing them much irritation.
