LOST
FOR WORDS
Comment:
In The Division Bell CD booklet, the page
number 21 is in Hebrew. Comment:
The first line of the song is "I was spending my time in the doldrums."
The doldrums are a region near the equator where sailors may find themselves
pushed this way and that by changeable breezes. Comment:
The track, illustrated in the CD booklet by a pair of boxing gloves,
and featuring the recordings of a boxing match, is a thinly disguised
reference to the court room pugilism that had taken place, and comes
almost in a form of a rhetorical open letter to Waters,
asking him whether he sees what a disagreeable and unhappy individual
he has become. Comment:
The melody may well have been influenced by Bruce Springsteen's 'Independance
Day'.
