Interstellar Overdrive

INTERSTELLAR OVERDRIVE
FACTS/COMMENTS

Comment: The main musical theme evolved from the band Love's version of the Burt Bacharach / Hal David song 'My Little Red Book', which was hummed to Syd Barrett by Peter Jenner.

Peter Jenner: The one song here that was like the live shows was 'Interstellar Overdrive'.They played it twice, one version recorded straight on top pf the other. They doubletracked the whole track. Why? Well it sounds f**king weird doesn't it? The big sound and all those hammering drums.

Comment: One persistent, if unlikely, fallacy is that the riff was lifted from the theme to the TV comedy, 'Steptoe And Son'.
