THE
BRAVERY OF BEING OUT OF RANGE
Concept:
War is viewed as entertainment by the millions of people who watch the reports
on TV but who are in no danger themselves. The third verse is about Desert
Storm. Comment:
Roger Waters was first heard performing a segment of this song during rehearsals
for The Wall concert in Berlin on July 19, 1990. Roger
Waters: The first two verses were written in the mid-'80s and are an evocation
of Ronald Reagan. But the third verse used to be about Berlin - 'Berlin
babies sing this song' - and that's gone. So this is the only bit specifically
to do with Desert Storm...th theatre of the people in the bar watching television
and enjoying us winning is what that third verse is about.
