ANOTHER
BRICK IN THE WALL
Comment:
Another brick in Pink's wall was an educational system that surpressed
creativity and independant thought. This song is not a condemnation
of education , but of a system of education in which children are treated
as faceless individuals who are processed in a fixed manner regardless
of their individual interests.
Comment: In the tape loop at the conclusion of the song , the bike shed
refers to a place in the school yard where one could sneak a smoke or
drink etc. Comment:
Banned in South Africa on May 6,1980 due to black school children using
the song to protest against educational apartheid in Soweto. The Apartheid
government prohibited the sale and broadcast of the single and album
, and ordered all copies confiscated. Comment:
The working title for this song was called Education.
